Resolved Question: Algae taking over my fish tank? How to stop it?
I have a 30 gallon tropical fresh water fish tank. The fish I have are, 1 Betta, 1 Corydora, 2 Mollies, Red tailed fin shark and a skinny fish (cant remember the name)
All the algae is taking over the glass sides, how can I stop this?
Resolved Question: Emergency Help with Tropical fish?
I currently own 1 male guppy and 2 females
they live in a 15 gallon (60 litre) aquarium all to themselves.
In my aquarium there is:
Pump
Filter
Installed light
Heater
Fine gravel
2 real plants
2 fake plants
2 ornaments
The tank is kept at 78 degrees.
All was well until about a day-a-go, one of my females stopped swimming, she is still swimming up-right... But her tail is almost hanging down, she is ver skinny. I thought she was pregnant. She stays away from the others. I dont think she is eating that much and stays in corners.
Is there anything that I can do to make her eel better and if the others are ill, them too. The others seem healthy...
I know for sure that my other female is pregnant. She is biggerm black gravid spot about 4mm.
What is the problem?
More information I just found out. My other female who is healthy is attacking her. Why? and why is she not defending her self?
Whats wrong?
i have no other tank to seperate them.
Resolved Question: Can someone help me identify my fish?
I got it kinda small like 1 in. now its like 2-3in.
its white and has like transparent stripes.
its calm its not aggressive, its eats alot, he loves eating and can fit big chunks in his mouth, it not really shy, and ive had aggressive mollies who bother my other fish but not him. Hes in like a round shape not completly like circle but like kinda fat i guess, ( im saying that hes not one of those fish that are long and skinny).
and idk what else,
hes a tropical fish, PH for him i guess is like 7.0 he likes warmer water, and yea. can you identify this fish?
no its not its a discus but thanks

Resolved Question: Please help my turquoise discus eat again?
One of my turquoise discus still won't eat?
I posted this about a week ago...
I bought two 1.5 inch turquoise discus about a month ago because they were beautiful and my LFS was basically giving them away with a 2 for $60 deal. I got them home and for three weeks both thrived off of frozen bloodworms and frozen beef heart. After about week two of this diet i tried to train them to eat tetracolor tropical granules (to provide them more nutrition) by mixing a little in with their regular diet but had no luck. I went back to just frozen bloodworms and beefheart and noticed something strange. The last week or so one has been eating like there is no tomorrow and the other won't eat. He seems to be getting a little skinny, his colors aren't near as pretty as they were, and he isn't as active. My tank is at 86 degrees and all water parameters are fine. I do 30-40 percent water changes on the tank (55 gallon) weekly and have two filters that can each handle 100 gallons. I have an assortment of tigerbarbs(7), a black ghost knife, and three gold gouramis in the tank with them and they all seem to get along fine. The only guess i have is that it could be the brand of blood worms i'm feading them. I was using sally's bloodworms but when i ran out of those i got a cheaper kind but that doesn't explain why it won't eat the beefheart. ??? very odd to me. Another guess is maybe it's sick with a parasite or other fish disease. I really have no idea and would guess that he only has a couple more days of this cold-turkey-no-eating strike before he'll be in critical condition or dead. PLEASE HELP? Thankyou
4 days ago
Someone then suggested that i quaranteen him and i did to a ten gallon tank. They told me to do 90 percent water changes daily and keep offering him food that if he didn't eat to siphon up. I have done this ever since and now the little guy is actually starting to act like he wants to eat. He keeps getting the blood worms in his mouth and then spits them out like "blah that doesn't taste good" or something like that. I assume that he must actually be swallowing some of them though because he doesn't look skinny and is starting to gain a little color back. What should i do? Any advise will help! THANKS

Resolved Question: what can i feeed my male convict cichlid and why he is losing his color?
my 2.5" male convict won't eat the small cichlid pellets, and he can barely eat the goldfish pellets which are half the size of the cichlid pellets, he is only eating tropical fish flakes, and some cucumber that i feed my pleco. When i brought him from petsmart he was gray/blue color with very tinted black stripes, now all his stripes are losing their black and looks grayish, he also killed my big firemouth that i brought one day from petsmart and one Small albino tiger barb because he looked like he hadn't eat for weeks(he looked very, very skinny and had trouble swimming, now i only have 3 barbs.)
What other fish can go with him that he wont kill, the only choices i heard was fast moving fish such as barbs, or other type of big aggressive cichlid like the firemouth but he died, either because he was sick or the shock.
is a 29 gallon tank with very few decor
Resolved Question: can someone try to name this fish for me....?
well im getiing fish and i was trying to find a picture of it but i don't know exactly what the name is but im going to try to describe it...ok sooo....
~its silver/shiny light gray in color
~ its really skinny
~ its not really a "normal" shape for a fish, its kinda of like where its mouth would be just like carries down and is attached so its look like it has a huggee belly. its almost like a circle so where its mouth is, isn't really defined.
~its from petsmart
~ its a tropical fish
thats pretty much all I know, but if you could tell me the name or try to find a picture of it, any suggestions are fine
noooo i mean like the species name of the fish, like what type.
i already have a name for it
Resolved Question: Oh My God! 33 Baby guppies! What should I feed them? Please Read!?
As You have probably seen in my other questions, I "Had" a VERY pregnant guppy. I asked you to try to predict when the babies would be born. Well, Most of you were right. Yesterday Night, I had No Idea, But the had LOTS of babies. I woke up in the morning today, and thought that she hadn't had them yet. When I came home from school with my Best friend, I saw a baby. I Fished 16 babies out. Then 2 hours later there were 13 more. I put all of the 29 babies in with my small babie molly, who was born on February 8, which is also my birthday. I think she is still birthing, She is pretty skinny but has a little grafid spot. Does this mean that she has a couple more to birth? and which is a better food for them, Sundried shredded Baby dead shrimp, or Little mashed up tropical flakes? I did have 33 babies, But I found four dead ones. Will my tiny baby molly be okay with them? (all of his brothers and sisters died). :( Please answer mall my questions. Thanks!
Resolved Question: Does anyone remember this wedding special on TV?
A few years ago there was a wedding special on ABC I believe and I think it may have been an Instyle Weddings edition.
I think the wedding was of one of the guys from Boyz II Men (the tall skinny one Michael) and the singer Joe sang "I Want to Know" as their first dance.
What I loved was that the dance floor was completely made of glass and there were some kind of fish underneath. Tropical fish and I definitely remember goldfish. I need pictures of that dance floor.
Does anyone remember this or know of pictures?
Resolved Question: My platys keep dying?
I recently bought a small aquarium (5th march), Its 40L (not sure how many gallons that is). I was told at the petshop to run it for 3 days before adding fish (i've since found out its supposed to be run for a week or MORE) So we added our fish after 3 days as thats what we were told to do. My fish all seemed happy and healthy (i had 4 platys and 1 very small suckerfish) I was told to feed them regular tropical fish flakes. About 3 weeks later i noticed my suckfish was extremely skinny and was just sitting at the bottom of the tank. I did some research and found out they feed off algae, so we bought some algae chips, i put half of one (about half the size of a 5cent peice) in the tank twice a week, it eats it all in about 12 hours. The rest of the time he feeds off the waste and left over flakes. He now seems happy and healthy BUT about a week after the first algae chip one of the platys died, I diden't think much of it, did 1/4 of a water change and added water conditioner. The rest of my fish seemed healthy, But today a week later another on of the platys have died, i noticed it had white slime all over it after it died, it also diden't look at brightly coloured in the 24hours leading up to now.
I do a 1/4 water change every 2 weeks. Add water conditioner.
I don't have any water testing kits, But i am going to invest in some ASAP. I think its unfair that we were so mislead by the petstore, they diden't tell us how to care for our fish or anything.
Could it be the algae chips that are killing my platys?
