I have a baby (1.5 inchs) and juvenile Oscar (3 inches). Well my bigger one is finally feeling better and is starting to eat again. I was wonder what and how much I should feed them. I have Shrimp Pellets, Tropics Fish Flakes, Small Cichlids Granules, Tropical Granules, and Sun Dried baby Shrimp. I would like to feed them stuff along with the stuff I have like fresh shrimp, etc. With meat like shrimp and fish does it need to be cooked or feed them raw, what about beef heart/chicken liver. I have a 550 LITRE Juwel Vision Aquarium with large fishes such as oscars and an Arowana and a few tin foil barbs. My fishes go through allot of fish food a week. I currently use the high quality fish food pellet called Hikari Cichlid pellets (250grams) and it takes them less than a week to go through the bag. I consider myself a very experienced predatory tropical fish enthusiast who has 3 years ecxperience in aquatic retail. For this reason I know I am not feeding them too much, it is their demand that I am finding it hard to keep up with. The fish tank water peramters are perfect: Ammonia: 0ppm Nitrite: 0ppm Nitrate 0.5-1ppm (not overfeeding-not detrimental to fish). I would be very greatful if someone could let me know if theres a relatively good quality tropical fish PELLET food (not flake) other than the Hikari brand as it is not very cost effective (unless you know where I can buy it in bigger bulk) please let me know! Thanks! Sorry i meant juwel vision 450. The arowana is still a juvenille so it is currently perfect for this tank. The diet of the food consists of Hikari pellets being its staple diet as well as live river shrimp/ live mealworm once a week and frozen blood worm every so often so there is some varying in its diet which I did not mention before.

I have been cycling my tank with goldfish and I just foundout that some people say that when i switch the temperture for tropical fish (oscar) all the beneficial bacteria will die, will it die??? I have a 90litre tropical fish tank set-up, I have 1 Oscar, 1 Dolpin chiclid, 1 Blue guarmi, 1 Big yellow Guarmi?, 1 Cory Dorus, 1 Fighter fish, 10 to 20 baby Guppies, 2 Glass catfish, a eel that hides in the rocks and a couple of yellow snails.... Are these fish going to be ok together or am i going to have fish fighting?... If so what fish would you rekoment to be put with my Oscar and Chiclid?....

I just bought two, 2 inch Parrot fish for my 350 litre tropical aquarium, to go with my Plec who has been on his own for a couple of weeks. I did my best to give them a stress free introduction to my tank, but its been two days now, and all they do is hide behind bogwood/rocks whenever me or my other half walk into the room. We see them in the main part of the tank together when we slowly poke our heads into the room, so I dont think theyre ill/injured. I bet they have a party when we leave the house!!! Im used to having a community tank with guppy's, tetra's etc, where fish dont hide, so i'm wondering if this is normal for Parrot fish, and whether they will become more confident with time and growth??? Hoping to add an Oscar soon, nothing else!!!

I have a reasonable sized tank with about 6 sword tails (there small fresh water tropical fish) which if its important breed very fast but they eat their babies. im getting kind of sick of them and their cycle and wanted to get a baby Oscar. What should i do with my swords? the Oscar will eventually eat them, but i feel really bad about that, i could put them in the small pond out the back but theres a good chance they would die anyway from the water temperature. My local stores/pet shops wont take them and i dont have any friends to give them to. i really dont want to kill them but the lady who is selling me the oscar says she would just let him eat them. i feel bad about this but it seems like the best option, can someone tell me what they would do or give me an ok reason to let him eat them so i wouldnt feel so bad about it? i really dont no what to do i dont have a 'craigs list' or watever this is so dont bother posting about that dw everyone, my tank i have been told is big enough

I have kept tropical fish for a number of years and now want to start another tank with 110 litre capacity. I originally wanted to keep Oscars, but I am well aware this size tank is no where near big enough. Can any recommend fish that have a bit of personality like Oscars but are OK in a smaller tank? I don't just want to get tetras, danios etc.

i have experience in fish keeping and have been keeping fish for 5 years..the reason for this dilema is that i really like red taill catfish and have read that in order to give them a good life they need a tropical pond. however i won't be able to see them very well. also i love tiger oscars and i just can't see them in a tropical pond..and a RTC won't fit in an aquarium..what to do?the pond will be around 800-1000 gallons
